Keeping different identities separate is harder than simply creating different accounts.

The real problem is the small connections you forget about.

Two accounts can use different usernames, different passwords, and different email addresses, yet still become easier to correlate through the same recovery information, browser environment, device characteristics, files, network connections, or behaviour.

Most identity leaks are not caused by someone breaking through your security. They happen because you accidentally connect two things that were supposed to stay separate.

This is the core idea behind compartmentalization: if two identities do not need to be connected, do not give them unnecessary ways to connect.
