Anyone here into homelabs or self hosting servers at home?

Started small with some old hardware running proxmox. What are you running and why?

My bad. Wasn't trying to seem sketch. Just recently started building my own setup myself and have been having fun with it

Really was just looking for ideas

HP ProLiant DL360e Gen8
- 192GB RAM
- 2.4TB SSD
- 700W power supply

Also picked up a custom firewall running pfSense from eBay.

Added a 1kVA online UPS, giving around 4–5 hours of backup during outages.

Picking up another HP small server for ~$100 today - will update once I have it.

Future plans:
- Automatic failover (HA)
- Dedicated backup node (NAS for file storage)
- 10G switch for local networking
- Clean and repaint the rack
- Install an air purifier inside the rack to handle dust (placed near corridor)

192GB RAM?? God I'm jealous. I'd love to start upgrading a bit. I found a local deal where someone is fireselling some stuff and I'm going to get a nice managed network switch out of it that'll be more than I ever need. Looking at possibly picking up an older server to run as a NAS. I'd also like to upgrade into something that could handle more VM's as myself and friend like testing/breaking stuff and use some of them for other things. Started out with a thinkcentre M720Q and fell in love with self hosting

Nice score! Hope it works out great for your setup! I'm looking at picking up a 12U rack soon to start building out a more permanent and organized setup Hype
