I’d like to suggest an improvement to the current system where non-upgraded users must reply to a thread before they can view its content. While the idea makes sense for encouraging engagement, it also creates a problem: many users leave short, spam-like comments just to unlock the thread, which adds clutter and makes discussions harder to follow.
To make this system more effective, it would help a lot if liking the thread could also count toward unlocking it—but only when combined with a meaningful reply. This way:
• Users can show genuine interest without feeling forced to post low-quality comments.
• It reduces spam replies such as “Thanks,” “Nice,” or repeated daily messages.
• It encourages better-quality engagement from non-upgraded members.
• It helps moderators and thread creators keep discussions clean and relevant.
A simple requirement like:
“Like the thread + post a reply with a minimum number of characters”
would be a great balance between preventing leeching and reducing unnecessary spam.
This small change could improve user experience, keep threads cleaner, and encourage real participation instead of filler messages.
